Since 1928, the American Legion Department of Nebraska has organized a State Championship tournament for Legion Baseball. Beginning in 1948, the state was split into two classes, with a Class "A" and Class "B" champion being crowned. In 1975, a third class - Class "C" - was formed.
Currently, Nebraska holds four state tournaments, two for Class "A" and one for each Class "B" and "C." Each of the two Class "A" champions advance on to National Regional play, with a single game determining a true "State Champion." This year's champion will advance to Region 6 play in Blue Springs, Missouri, while the runner-up will advance to Region 4 play in Grand Prairie, Texas.
