Prime Time Pats score early, often defeating Columbus

COLUMBUS – The PrimeTime Patriots continued their impressive string of hitting, knocking out 20 hits in seven innings on their way to defeating the Columbus Bank Seniors 20-6. The Patriots now have scored 31 runs and stroked 32 hits for the tournament in just two games.

PrimeTime’s two through five hitters – Blake Headley, Joe Plaetta, Shawn Kelly and Kyle Honeycutt – combined for 12 hits, 11 runs scored, 9 RBI, 3 doubles and a home run.

Columbus would score in just two of the seven innings – plating four in the first and not scoring again until PrimeTime had a 11-4 lead heading into the sixth. Taylor Fleeman was the lone player from Columbus with multiple hits, as he had a 2-run double in the first as well as a singe in the third.

The PrimeTime Patriots will return to action at 7 PM Sunday night, taking on the winner of Saturday’s game between PI Midwest and Associated Fire. Columbus, meanwhile, will play a loser-out game against Hastings at 1 PM on Sunday afternoon.
