Hastings hammers Fremont

COLUMBUS – Hastings Five Points Bank wasted little time dispatching Fremont First State Bank in an elimination game on Saturday afternoon, taking a 15-1 decision in seven innings.

Hastings posted three big innings to carry them to victory – scoring three times in the third, five times in the fourth and seven times in the fifth. Each of Hastings’ starters reached base twice in the contest, led by Benjamin Reimer, Ryan Bender and Zachary Hollister who laced three hits apiece. Matthew Overmiller added a home run for Hastings, and drove in five runs in the contest.

Five Points’ starter John LaMaster took charge on the mound, going all seven innings in the victory. LaMaster limited Fremont to just four hits and one run, while striking out six.

Hastings will take on the loser of the Columbus/PrimeTime matchup Sunday at 1 PM. Fremont finishes its season with a 16-22 record overall.
