 in extra-inning contest

Box Score

COLUMBUS – Lincoln Pinnacle Bank (Southwest) used a three-run tenth inning to capture a 7-4 elimination-round victory over Heartland Lighting (Bell. West) Saturday morning.

Pinnacle Bank started Saturday’s scoring on a Mark Korsakas RBI single, plating Andy Gospodarski with two outs in the first inning. Heartland Lighting would take until the fifth to answer when Zach Dibble struck a two-out, two-run double.

Pinnacle Bank jumped back in front in the sixth, scoring two. In the seventh, Taylor Anderson would continue his hot tournament hitting with a solo shot over the wall in right-center to extend the Pinnacle Bank lead to a 4-2 margin.

Heartland Lighting would tie the game in the seventh at 4-all with a three-hit inning, capped by a Kody Honeycutt RBI-double.

After trading zeros in the eighth and ninth, Pinnacle would finally break the game open with four hits in the 10th inning, including doubles by Tanner Lubach, Elliott Engle and Thomas Klostermeyer.

Pinnacle Bank Starting Pitcher Zane Mapes would retire the side in order in the tenth, giving him a complete game victory. Mapes threw just 114 pitches in the contest, striking out eight and walking none.

Pinnacle Bank will advance and take on the loser of tonight’s PI Midwest/Associated Fire in another elimination game at 4 PM on Sunday. Heartland Lighting finishes the season with a record of 21-21.
