Associated Fire takes National Division

Box Score

COLUMBUS – Associated Fire kept their bats plenty hot as they rolled past the PrimeTime Pats on Tuesday night, taking a 20-10 victory in the 2010 American Legion National Division State Championship Game. The Papillion-LaVista South-based team smashed 20 hits in the finale, giving them a total of 76 for the tournament, good for a .422 team batting average over the tournament.

Associated Fire put the hammer down early, scoring ten runs in the first two innings, highlighted by Caleb Palensky’s three-run home run in the first inning.

The hits would keep coming, as Associated would add five more runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Justin Paul led the charge, going five-for-five, including four doubles and four RBI. Ethan Schroeder added four hits of his own, all singles, and scored three runs.

Associated Fire will advance to take on Kearney Runza in the State Championship game on Saturday night in Kearney. Game time is set for 6 PM.

PrimeTime, meanwhile, finishes their season at 31-12.
