Lincoln Pinnacle Bank uses late rallies to eliminate PI Midwest

COLUMBUS – A pair of big innings
for Lincoln Pinnacle Bank (Southwest) helped them to victory,
eliminating PI Midwest (Creighton Prep) by a final of 12-8 Sunday
evening.
Despite spotting PI Midwest eight runs over the first four innings of
the game, Pinnacle Bank did not lay down. Instead, LPB sent 14 men to
the plate in the bottom of the fifth inning, seeing 10 of the first 11
reach base.
Lincoln followed that
impressive show up by scoring the go-ahead run in the 8th
inning courtesy of a heads-up baserunning play by Taylor Anderson, who
scored by tagging up at third on a foul pop-up to the first baseman.
Anderson would provide an encore by blasting a two-run bomb in the ninth
to blow the give Pinnacle Bank its lead of the final margin.
Mark Korsakas picked up the win, throwing six innings of relief work,
only allowing one earned run and striking out four.
Pinnacle Bank will advance to take on an opponent to be determined
Monday evening. PI Midwest ends their season with a 33-14 record.
